Akagera National Park is the only savannah park in Rwanda with four ecological habitats. It is home to the Big Five, the Small Five, a variety of other animals, and over 550 bird species.
The park covers 1,121 km² and takes about 7 hours to explore fully.
Akagera is located in eastern Province, approximately 2 hours 30 minutes’ drive from Kigali.
On the tour day, the weather is expected to be good. However, since we are in the short rainy season, please bring jackets.

5:40 am Pickup from Kigali hotel and drive to Akagera National Park (2.5–3 hours).
Midway Stop: Break at Imigongo Art Coffee Shop for coffee, bathroom break, and exploring the art.
8:30 am: Arrive at the park and complete entry formalities.
9:00 am: Start the the game drive to spot wildlife.
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Hot lunch at a picnic area
1:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Continue the full day game drive.
4:00 pm: End the safari and return to Kigali hotel.
Akagera National Park is located in eastern Rwanda, along the border with Tanzania. It's approximately a 2.5-hour drive from Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda.
The park is named after the Akagera River that flows along its eastern boundary. It covers an area of over 1,120 square kilometers and is the only savannah park in Rwanda.
